BACKGROUND & INTRODUCTION Sakchhin Chhori -सक्छिन छोरी, as the name suggests (literal translation in English is “daughter can”) is a program to show the capabilities of girls and women, who have excelled in various fields facing obstacles and hardships, and inspire the other girls, their families as well as community with a proof that girls are capable of hardships and success in any sectors.

It was conceived in 2019, as a weekly television program, by Jagriti Child and Youth Concern Nepal with the aim to empower, engage and motivate girls by providing platform for struggling and inspiring girls and females to share their stories and experiences through media The first season was supported by KANALLAN and presented by SDGs Studio.

It was broadcasted on the NTV Plus from October 4, 2019 on every Friday at 7:00 PM, with repeated telecast on every Monday at 3:30 PM. For the second season, National CFLG Forum and Good Neighbors International Nepal have also joined the venture.

The second season is jointly supported by Good Neighbors International, KANALLAN, implemented by Jagriti Child and Youth Concern Nepal (JCYCN), and NCFLG Forum, and presented by SDGs Studio. It is broadcasted through National Television; NTV Plus, at Prime Time, 7:00 PM, every Friday. It is also aired live through the face book page of Sakchhin chori, National CFLG Forum, SDG studio and JCYCN, and also uploaded at YouTube, with subtitle. These posts are also boosted for widest reach. The second season targets 24 episodes featuring inspiring girls and women to advocate for girls’ empowerment, promotion of investment on girl child, and campaign against the discriminatory and harmful practices against girls.

Objectives of the Program:

  • To advocate on the girls right in policy level
  • To change people’s perception towards girls
  • To inspire girls and make them realize that they are equally strong as boy.
  • To share best practices from different individual girls’ champion/girl’s rights activist in National platform.
  • To gather information and garner commitment from stakeholders for comprehensive girl’s protection mechanisms (against harmful practices like child marriage, Chhaupadi, Discrimination, Access, GBV, etc.) best practices, and plans.
